About Us

Welcome to Koala Kids
Preschool and Early Learning Centre

Welcome to Koala Kids Preschool and Early Learning Centre. We are a newly established, family owned and operated preschool and childcare centre situated in the suburb of Wiley Park. At Koala Kids Preschool and Early Learning Centre, we provide:

Our Philosophy

At Koala Kids Preschool and Early Learning Centre, we know that the generation of little Aussie kids today will be tomorrow’s future which is why we are passionate about opening up the world to little minds and inspiring a love of learning. We believe that children should not be taught what to think but rather, how to think; and through play, we achieve just this.

Our team of highly qualified and skilled educators continuously remain up to date with the latest early childhood research, theory, and curriculum to inform pedagogy and practice, which in turn, ensures a rich and wholesome learning environment for children. Within our service, we reflect the values, beliefs and knowledge of our service stakeholders who are our early childhood educators, children, families, and our local community. We acknowledge the traditional custodians, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, of the land on which we live, learn, laugh and play and we pay respects to their elders, past and present.

Commitment to educators

We understand the important role educators play in creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment for children to play, laugh and learn in. We also understand the large amount of trust parents invest in us educators to care for and teach their children. For this reason, we as passionate educators work endlessly to inspire and motivate a love of learning. Children learn best through play as it allows them to understand and make sense of the world around them, which is why we adopt a play-based approach to learning. We support children to become little explorers, researchers and investigators in their environment where they develop skills to hypothesise, inquire, and problem solve. We as educators adopt holistic approaches to support all aspects of children’s wellbeing and are responsive to the diverse learning needs of all children. We also adopt an intentional teaching approach where we are purposeful in all our teaching decisions to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for children.

Commitment to children

Every child deserves the right to access high quality education and care, and to have their health and safety promoted. Children should also be respected and have their dignity and rights maintained. As a result, our team fosters a child-centred and inclusive environment that embraces each child’s knowledge, strengths, ideas, culture, abilities, interests and differences. We provide opportunities for children to have their voices heard and have opportunities for participation as valued citizens and learners. Our high-quality learning program and practices are guided by the Early Years Framework curriculum and National Quality Standards. We also support all aspects of children’s wellbeing, health and safety and provide them with opportunities to explore both natural and built environments.

Commitment to families

At Koala Kids, we know that parents and families are a child’s first teachers. Parents know their child best and they support their children in the early years to develop secure and trusting attachments, social skills, values and emotional awareness. Our team works passionately to develop respectful relationships with parents and families where their expertise, culture, values and beliefs are respected, and they share in decision making about their child’s learning and wellbeing. We embrace the multicultural diversity present across families at our service and love that our families have come from all walks of life and experiences. We support parents in their parenting roles and family wellbeing; and encourage families to be involved in the service and contribute to service decisions.

Commitment to community

The local community plays a vital role in building children’s wellbeing, learning and development as is helps children to build their social, communication and interaction skills. Communities help children build a sense of belonging as they develop inclusion within their environment and local setting. At Koala Kids, we keep our children engaged and connected with our local community by organising a wide range of engaging and interactive excursions and incursions which help children feel connected to their local community. We keep track of community events and significant dates throughout the year, and we celebrate and learn about these diverse events together.

We pride ourselves on the high quality education and care we deliver and the inclusion we welcome and promote from our educators, children, families and local community. We will continue to foster and grow to deliver the best opportunities for our children.

OUR DIRECTOR

Hello, my name is Reem Abbas and I am the proud director of Koala Kids Preschool and Early Learning Centre. I am a qualified and experienced teacher who carries a Master of Teaching Degree in Early Childhood and Primary School Teaching. I have experience working in both fields and I am highly passionate about the learning and development of children. I began my career by graduating and working as a primary school teacher, but after having children of my own, I realised my passion for early childhood and began working as an early childhood teacher.

Joining me is a team of qualified and experienced early childhood educators who are passionate about working with young children and are experienced at providing quality education and care.
